On our last afternoon in Disneyland we decided to eat lunch and spend some time taking in the atmosphere at the Hungry Bear Restaurant.
Since we were planning on snacking throughout the day we decided to split the Fried Green Tomato sandwich. It’s described as cornmeal crusted fried green tomatoes layered with two slices of fresh heirloom tomatoes, topped with Havarti, rémoulade, jicama-mango slaw and served on a multi-grain roll.
It was delicious! We arrived right when lunch was beginning to be served so the tomatoes and just been fried. I loved the cornmeal breading. The heirloom tomatoes were fresh and the slaw was a nice accompaniment. The sandwich also came with a sweet potato fries. They were good, nothing really special about them, but they were a nice addition to the sandwich. It was a great vegetarian option and I really wish there was something like it at Walt Disney World.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist getting the Lemon “Bumblebee” Cupcake. I think this is the prettiest cupcake in the Disney Parks. You can’t really tell from the photo but there is gold glitter on the honey-lemon frosting and the little bee was too cute. The frosting was creamy and delicious, the cake was moist, and in the center there is a yummy lemon cream filling. It’s definitely a new favorite.
And the views were beautiful. From our table we could watch the canoes and the Mark Twain Riverboat on one side and then turn around and watch the Disneyland Railroad pass by. Since it was our last day it was nice just sitting there and soaking in the atmosphere. Great food, great scenery. We can’t wait to go back!
